FULL PULL ROPE / WEB SLING SHACKLES
Crosby S-281 screw pin web sling shackles
Connect synthetic web slings and roundslings to pad eyes, eyebolts and lifting lugs with Crosby S-281 Sling Saver® shackles. Choose from the two roundsling-size options offered here: No. 1 & 2 with a 6,500 lb working load limit, or No. 3 with a 9,000 lb working load limit. Web sling compatibility is listed separately below.

A sling-specific bow connects the sling eye to common lifting attachment points. Match both the webbing width and the eye width to the selected shackle.
Crosby Red Pin®
All-alloy construction with a removable screw pin. Ear spread and pin dimensions match conventional Crosby shackles for connection to compatible hardware.

Roundsling sizes No. 1 & 2 and No. 3 are Crosby size designations, not inch measurements. The web sling and eye widths above follow Crosby’s imperial specification table. U.S. tons are 2,000 lb; metric tonnes are 1,000 kg. Metric ratings shown are Crosby’s published values.
Check the sling eye before ordering
For web slings, Crosby’s imperial table specifies Type III eye-and-eye, Class 7, 2-ply construction. The No. 1 & 2 shackle is listed for a 2-inch-wide web sling with a 2-inch eye. The No. 3 shackle is listed for a 3-inch-wide web sling with a tapered 1.5-inch eye. Confirm the sling manufacturer’s compatibility requirements and attachment-point dimensions before selecting a shackle.
Crosby S-281 features
- All-alloy construction with a 5:1 design factor.
- Forged-in Crosby name, working load limit and Product Identification Code (PIC) for material traceability.
- Crosby states that the S-281 meets or exceeds ASME B30.26 requirements.
- Crosby Sling Saver hardware meets WSTDA-RS1 requirements for minimum stock diameter or thickness and effective contact width.
The design factor does not increase the working load limit.

Choose the connection for the job
Crosby recommends screw pin shackles for temporary, pick-and-place connections and bolt-type shackles for permanent or long-term installations. Fully engage and tighten the pin before each lift, and prevent a moving line from turning it.
Avoid folding, bunching or pinching the sling eye. Keep the load centered, account for any required side-loading reductions, and follow the sling and shackle manufacturers’ instructions. Never exceed the applicable working load limit of any component.
